
Magtalisay trees are rare of its kind, it stand against floods and earthquakes bound to protect the barangay from destruction. It was known to be protected by "Maria de Cacao" ,a beautiful fairy who lives by the river banks of Mananga river situated on the boundary of the place.
People before where known to be polite and very kind that they swore to take care of the the trees and all the inhabitants of the place.
It was then that the place was abundant with food and shelter when "Maria" was said to be protecting the people around it. Some people say that they saw the goddess in the woods and while waiting for the sunset.

Time flies so fast that people populated and things begun to change. They abuse nature and cut the Magtalisay trees that grew to build houses or use for lumber. This angered Maria and decided to stop the people from ruining the nature. She decided to bring a large typhoon and the wash away the village and ruined houses and plow lands.
To remind people of the importance of Magtalisay trees in the locale, fellow barangay leaders who were survivors decided to name "Talisay" as the place, to remember that it was once a place and a homeland of Magtalisay trees. Today, the name of the City continued to flourish as it has rich legends and myths about the Magtalisay trees.
